Tips for using Kith + Kin for your pets

Kith + Kin is for your circle, no matter what it looks like — including your furry, feathered and scaly family members. Just as you use Kith + Kin to manage health information for yourself, your kids or your partner, you can also use it for your pets’ health information.

Creating a profile for your pet in Kith + Kin is just like creating one for a human: Simply enter your pet’s basic info and add their photo, then you can begin adding topics, notebooks and Smart Items with their health information. Take just five minutes every so often to add information when it’s on your mind, and soon you’ll have a complete picture of your pet’s health, all in one place and easily accessible when you need it. Here are some suggestions for what to add to your pet’s profile:

  • Veterinarian contact info. Include links and login info for any portals or appointment systems.

  • Emergency vet. If you take your pet to a different practice in an emergency, add the contact information and address.

  • Vaccine records. Many pet services, such as groomers or boarding facilities, require proof of certain vaccines. Keep this info handy for when you or someone else is taking your pet to the groomer or to board.

  • Microchip details. If you don’t know your pet’s microchip number or registration info, ask your vet to scan for the chip at their next visit. Write down the number and visit a free microchip registry like found.org/owners/ to register your pet’s chip.

  • Medications. Make a note of the last time you or your vet administered any flea/tick/heartworm prevention so you know when it’s due next.

  • Illnesses and allergies. Include symptoms so you remember what to look for in the future, and add any related procedure dates.

  • Pet sitter instructions. Include feeding instructions, medication instructions (if needed), walking/exercise/potty schedule and any other important details.

Keeping your pets’ info in Kith + Kin makes it even easier to share those details with people who need them, like a pet sitter or another pet parent. You can choose to share only the information you want them to have, and easily keep it updated — no more last-minute texts with constant updates to keep everyone in the loop.

Our pets are our family, so start managing their health information the same way!
